Projet Phenix
Projet Phenix is an experimental short film directed by Vincent Lorca and Prune Nourry, presented as part of the eponymous exhibition on view at Galerie Templon from September 4 to October 23, 2021. The piece tells the encounter between the artist and the visually impaired models, whom she sculpted blindfolded for months, without ever seeing the results.
For Projet Phenix, Prune Nourry revives the tradition of portraiture and explores the intimate relationship between artist and model. Over several months, she invited eight visually impaired people to pose in her studio and created a bust of each model without ever seeing them, only by touching them and listening to their story.
Plunged into total darkness, the exhibition invites visitors to share the same experience as the artist. Following a carefully marked-out exhibition itinerary, based on standard guidance systems for the blind and visually impaired, everyone is invited to discover the eight works using their sense of touch, as well as in an adjacent room, the short film and eight works in paper representing models’ hands, embossed with the help of a printer specialized in Braille.
