Les Bébés Domestiques - 2006
Intrigued by matters to do with the body, fertility and the relationship between art and science, Prune Nourry met the stem cell researcher Stephen Minger from King's College London, whose investigations into hybrid embryos involving humans and rabbits or cows were decisive for this first group of works and for future developments in her creative process. From 2006 to 2008, the artist staged a two-part performance in the streets of London, Paris, Brussels, Tokyo and New York. Some of her "genetic" creatures, part dog part child, were placed in front of bakeries, sparking the curiosity of people and dogs alike. Others were taken for a stroll in a pram by ten young women dressed as nannies, who offered them to passers-by on Adoption Days in London and Brussels.
